A little about Body Illumination and Rebekah

Rebekah Aramini Lupo has been passionate about the integration of mind / body / spirit all of her life. “Wellness and fitess should be a discovery process not a chore. There is magic inside each of us – we just need to tap into it to allow it to be realized.” “Please check Tweets or YouTube Channel – together we can all make a difference in each other’s lives.”

Wellness and fitness expert, actor, writer, designer and artist, Rebekah has a unique approach to wellness. “Wellness and fitess should be a discovery process not a chore. There is magic inside each of us – we just need to tap into it to allow it to be realized.”

“I’m not sure I’m a good cook. But I like cooking, and it’s a real family thing – an expression of love being together.”  Genevieve O’Reilly

To me cooking, baking, any kind of food preparation is an evolving art and love. I grew up watching my Mom, my Dad and my Grandmother cooking and baking all kinds of Italian dishes. For me food is not only comfort and love but nourishment.  I have always been interested in healthy eating. Healthy food, wellness and athletics have always been a life-long passion and certainly a way of life. More recently after some contrasting health issues, I have immersed myself in finding high-vibration ingredients that have super-powers!  Having a family of my own, I love creating healthy, tasty dishes.  It is important to me to share what I have learned about the many benefits of healthy eating and the amazing powers of our earth’s garden.  I am vegan.  My kids are dairy and gluten-free.  My husband eats just about anything he wants.  So, you will find my recipes are mostly plant-based with some creative animal proteins as an option.

Vibration, Vibration, Vibration…

Spirituality is something that is innate in all of us.  It is there whether we choose to tune into it or not. After going, through some very high contrasting moments in my life, I found myself on my knees, repeating the word, “Vibration, Vibration, Vibration.”  It brought me back to my roots.  I went back to my daily meditations, chanting, pranayama …  When we look to God, we find the divinity in ourselves.  It affects the thread that is woven in every part of our lives.

“If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Nikola Tesla

Yoga- The ancient discipline for the mind, body and soul….

birds“It is an inward journey”. “I look to nature when I teach. Our breath is like the sounds of nature – THE OCEAN. Our movements are like those of the animals and the earth – CATS, DOGS, DOVES, TREES, THE EARTH. It is a magical gift that has been handed down to us. It has a history of more than 5000 years. There is an integration of theory and practice. Yoga is not just theory nor is it just a fitness craze. It is a pathway of exploration.”

Rebekah directs the yoga and pilates program at the Hoboken YMCA. She also teaches throughout Hoboken and NYC. “There are various students attracted to yoga. Mostly because it offers so many options.”Rebekah practicing

In order to engage Yoga properly and successfully, one must pay due attention to the ideas behind its practical disciplines and, vice versa, to the exercises and techniques embodying its theories. This calls for thoughtful and mindful practice. For instance, regular and correct practice of the yogic postures will undoubtedly help us maintain good physical health.

yoga pictureYet, to tap into their deeper potential, we must understand them as being merely one small aspect of Yoga’s integrated approach toward spiritual liberation.

Similarly, meditation definitely balances the nervous system and calms the mind. However, only when we understand the nature of the mind—thanks to the yogic theories—can we hope to overcome the inherent limitations of our mental make-up and discover transcendental consciousness. For this reason, study (svadhyaya) has been held in high esteem by most schools of Yoga; it complements steady application to the practical disciplines. Rebekah teaches various styles including Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, Restorative, Yin, Kids Yoga, Prenatal and Senior Yoga.

Rebekah reading“Prior to my study of yoga, I had the opportunity to participate in a number ofRebekah Aramini’s exercise classes. In each class Rebekah invested the time to demonstrate the proper technique, observe and correct our techniques, and provide personal instruction/advice after class. This was done to connect with each member of the class to improve their fitness and well being.

She is an energetic, involved teacher who was an extremely popular instructor due to her style of teaching—complete knowledge of the subject, encouragement/help to achieve the proper technique, providing the background of the technique—the purpose/ goal etc.

David LifeIn each instance Rebekah strived to make herself a better teacher and everyone in her class a better student and person. For approximately 10 years I have observed Rebekah Aramini’s teaching manner and the qualities inherent in her being is what she has brought to Yoga.

She is now “living the life of the Yogi’ and I have been lucky to have practiced Ashtanga Yoga under the “yogi” Rebekah for 4 years. I would welcome the opportunity to be a “yogi” in her class again.” John Kent

“I took Rebekah Aramini’s yoga class consistently for approximately two years. Primarily, I took the class because it was a tremendous work out. I feel as though I improved my flexibility and strength as a result of the class. In addition, I found the class to be an enlightening experience.yoga picture

I truly believe that it enhanced my understanding of themind-body connection. It helped me to decrease my stress level and to think of problematic situations in a more positive light. I feel that Rebekah’s ability to integrate the physical and emotional aspects of yoga made each and every class a wonderful experience.” Amy O’Connor

Namaste picture“Rebekah did a wonderful job explaining even the most basic moves and was always willing to model them for me or help me adjust my position. She was adept at adapting moves to my level of ability and flexiblity and very responsive to any requests for help with or emphasis on certain postures or aspects of yoga.” Kerry Sabbag

Pilates

Rebekah Aramini Lupo has decades of experience in the Fitness Industry. Rebekah began training in Pilates over thirteen years ago. She has had numerous teachers including the Master Teachers who trained directly with Joseph H. Pilates. Rebekah’s training encompasses a wide range of styles and integrative movement system. Rebekah is enthused about sharing her knowledge of Pilates and fitness. “The exercises are derived from the program first developed by Joseph H. Pilates. They focus on working the deeper muscles to achieve efficient and refined movement. They deliver both stretching and strengthening in a non-impact, balanced system of body/mind control. Pilates can be individualized to suit everyone’s needs. It is truly powerful for the mind and body. The results are amazing.”

Rebekah introduced the Pilates program to the Hoboken YMCA. She directs the both the Pilates and Yoga program at the YMCA. Rebekah teaches in Hoboken and NYC. She teaches Mat, small appartatus, bosu-Pilates classes and private lessons on the reformer/tower.

Pilates Mat ClassPilates is a method of physical and mental conditioning. A method is a means used to attain an end — the conditioning of the mind and body into a fused state of readiness. Developed by Joseph Hubertus Pilates, he originally called his method contrology — the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.

A low-impact yet highly intense workout, Pilates is ideal for everyone, young or old, those who are extremely fit or out of shape, as well as those who have chronic pain, injuries, or asthma.

Joe describes Pilates (contrology): “Contrology is not a system of haphazard exercises designed to produce only bulging muscles. … Nor does Contrology err either by over-developed a few muscles at the expense of all others with resulting loss of grace and suppleness, or a a sacrifice of the heart or lungs. Rather, it was conceived to limber and stretch muscles and ligaments so that your body will be as supple as that of a cat and not muscular like that of the body of a brewery-truck horse, or the muscle-bound body of the professional weight lifter you so much admire at the circus.

Contrology develops the body uniformly…

Contrology develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit.

Contrology is not a fatiguing system…

Contrology is not a fatiguing system of dull, boring, abhorred exercises repeated daily “ad-nausem”.

“Pilates is addictive and so is Rebekah!!! As a mother of three young children, finding time to exercise is always tough…however, the energy Rebekah demonstrates in class and the workout definitely make it worth the effort!!! With Rebekah, I quickly learnt to really enjoy the physical and mental benefits of her classes. Pilates challenges my body to become stronger and more flexible and my mind to become more focused and positive”
Irit Maor

SPINNING NOTE

Rebekah started spinning in when it first hit the fitness clubs. She was teaching at Suburban fitness. Suburban was an early adopter to the Spinning program.

“The program has evolved so much. It is tailored to suit a wide range of abilities and fitness goals, delivering a personalized workout, incredible calorie burn and personal challenge—all at a self-directed pace”, Rebekah shares, “and it is so much fun.”

Rebekah’s classes vary depending on the goal – it may be energizing and exciting with high-cardio sprints or very focused and therapeutic with intensely challenging hills.

Like a flame in a windless place, little by little, through patience and reapeated effort, the yogi trains the mind to become one pointed. Then, in the stillness, the Self reveals itself.

What are clients say about us

  • "...ultimately shaping me with a better mind and body."
"Rebekah is an amazing teacher with lots of variety. My flexibility and mobility have improved greatly since trying her Yin Fusion and other pose variations. My forward fold, balance etc was non existent until I starting following her flows. I love that her sequences challenge me and offers other variations for different levels. As a truck driver I find motivation to incorporate stretching throughout my day. Maybe I can work up to trying her pilates class someday. "

  • "...she's always so upbeat and enthusiastic- you forget it's a workout and just have fun!"
"I'm a big fan of Rebekah's Kickboxing and Step classes. When I first started, I was a novice to aerobics classes. My first class with her was a step class and I didn't know the first thing about it- what was a U step? a K-step? It was all foreign to me. I was a little nervous- I thought for sure I wouldn't know what to do and I'd make a fool of myself, but she explained everything so well, I felt like a pro! After that I was hooked! Rebekah is such a motivator; she's always so upbeat and enthusiastic- you forget it's a workout and just have fun!"  Kathleen LaVigne

"The worst thing about Rebekeh's abs class is how effortlessly she does things that put you in excruciating pain. That said, I have been consistently lifting weights and doing my own form of abs for 14 years and nothing compares to her class. She packs more into to 20-30 minutes than I used to do in three 30 minutes sessions. The results are unparalleled."  Chris Peel
