MY SUPER HEALTHY GREEN GROOVY SMOOTHIE RECIPE
Oh Yum this is a favorite-
It is packed with powerful, awesome ingredients and great for an on-the-go snack or quick, easy, meal. You get all your greens plus barley grass, wheat grass and chlorella.
Wheat Grass Juice is super high in Nutrients and Antioxidants. It is a great source of many different vitamins and minerals, especially in vitamins A, C and E, as well as iron, magnesium, calcium and amino acids. Additionally, supplementing with it, will increase levels of the antioxidants glutathione and vitamin C in the body. It is important to get the juice powder. It costs a little bit more but has more nutrients. Also, there is controversy about whether wheat grass itself should be consumed. Rather the juicing of the wheat grass is most beneficial. I love this one by Terasoul. It is organic and it is the wheat grass juice. It is also pretty competitively priced.
Barley Grass Juice is has key nutrients that help to support the immune system…vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and enzymes. Also, it has a very hight amount of vitamin C which is wonderful to maximize your immune system and fight off infections both bacterial and viral. Again, I recommend the Barley Grass Juice Powder over the Barley Grass Powder. I also highly suggest organic. Terasoul also has a Barley Grass Juice Powder.
Chlorella is a type of algae and considered a “super food”. It’s a great source of protein, omega-3’s, fiber, several vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. In fact, new data suggest that it could help the exiting of toxins out of your body and improve cholesterol and blood sugar levels, among other health benefits. The brand that you get is important. Microingredients is reputable.
RECIPE:
- 1 1/2 cup of water or almond milk (optional coconut water)
- 3 cups of organic POWER greens (I like this one from Trader Joes – Power to the Greens. It has organic baby spinach, baby kale and baby chard. But you are welcome to use any brand or combine your own which is just as easy.
- 2 organic pitted dates
- 5-8 sprigs of organic cilantro
- 5-8 sprigs of organic parsley
- 1/4 cup of organic lemon juice
- 1 tsp chlorella powder
- 1 tsp wheat grass powder
- 1 tsp barley grass powder
- 2 organic banana (for your taste)
- ice to taste – optional
Add it all into the blender or a nutrabullet and go! Put the extra into mason jars. It will store for a couple of days in the fridge. Then add some ice and a straw and it is the perfect to-go cocktail or good-morning greenie!
Enjoy!
