Hi Beautiful Friends,
✨ NEW Weekly Somatic Calendar Update ✨
I’m trying something a little different this week, and I wanted to share why…
Creating the weekly calendar in Adobe has taken many, many hours, and unfortunately the links haven’t always worked consistently. I know that can be frustrating, and I truly want this to feel simple, supportive, and easy for you to follow.
So this week, I’ve shifted things in a way that I hope serves you better 💛
Instead, you’ll receive:
✔️ A printable weekly calendar to keep you motivated and on track
✔️ A YouTube playlist with all your classes in one place
✔️ 2 Patreon member classes linked directly
Another piece of feedback I received (which I loved!) was that you prefer having classes that are already available and ready to go—so you can simply press play and begin.
So moving forward, your weekly plan will include curated, ready-to-access classes rather than brand new uploads. I will still have new classes every week as well.

The moment you walk into a room, you know.
You feel the temperature shift.
You read body language.
You hear tone changes before words change.
You sense when someone is genuine.
You sense when something is off.
This is vigilance.
This is pattern detection.
Your brain is tracking micro-signals constantly — posture, breath, facial expression, pacing, subtle inconsistencies.
Hello my beautiful friends. I’m Rebecca Aramini Lupo, creator of Body Illumination. And today we’re talking about your unique nervous system code.
If you feel like your brain is tracking micro-signals constantly — posture, breath, facial expression, pacing, subtle inconsistencies — maybe even the sound of a footstep…
You can feel something in your body.
Maybe it’s in your throat.
“Are those happy feet… or angry?”
Some systems are simply more responsive to that data.
Some systems have been wired for that data over years and years of practice.
And that responsiveness can be a gift.
When regulated, scanning becomes intuition.
It becomes emotional intelligence.
It becomes leadership and depth.
But when stressed or carrying unprocessed experiences, that same wiring can turn into hypervigilance.
Now you’re not just noticing.
You’re monitoring.
Managing.
Bracing.
Preparing.
Same skill.
Different nervous system state.
Your nervous system is like your internal operating system.
Some people are running a lightweight program.
You see them. You know them. And you wonder what’s different about them and you.
Some are running forty-seven tabs, twelve background apps, and constant updates.
If you’re someone who:
Feels everything deeply
Anticipates problems before they happen
Holds emotional labor for others
Scans for safety automatically
You’re not dramatic.
You’re running complex code.
Complex systems require cooling time.
Reboots.
Maintenance.
Rest isn’t indulgent.
It’s system regulation.
And if you don’t pause, the system overheats.
I know this because I experience this.
This week I was in a spiral. Circumstances kept piling and piling and piling. I was overwhelmed.
And then I stopped.
I did a meditation.
And just like that — I saw relief. I saw change.
Sometimes the shifts aren’t that quick.
But the more you practice, the more you tap into it, the more you see the system respond.
I used this analogy with my daughter the other day.
Imagine everyone is walking through life with a backpack.
Some packs are light.
Others carry:
Family dynamics
Generational trauma
Caregiving
Invisible health stress
Hyper-responsibility
If you carry more weight, you take more breaks.
That’s it.
It’s not weakness.
That’s biomechanics.
Your nervous system needs proportional recovery.
The body doesn’t care about comparison.
It cares about load.
Some homes have simple wiring.
Others have intricate systems — security sensors, smart technology.
If your wiring is sensitive:
Loud noise spikes you.
Conflict exhausts you.
Subtle tone shifts register immediately.
That doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It means your system is responsive.
I remember a time when I couldn’t understand why anyone wouldn’t love loud music — dancing, singing, joy.
And yet the other day, when my little one was blasting music, I was the person who needed to dim the lights and lower the volume.
Responsive systems need grounding.
Not all the time.
But often.
And they don’t need shame.
Somatic work doesn’t remove pattern detection.
It recalibrates it.
When we move slowly…
When we process through fascia…
When we allow tremors, breath, micro-movements…
We are re-educating the system.
When we complete stress cycles instead of suppressing them, the nervous system learns:
The danger is not happening now.
Over time, scanning becomes optional.
You can notice without tightening.
You can sense without spiraling.
You can read a room without absorbing it.
There is relief.
Instead of:
“I must manage everything.”
It becomes:
“I can tune in… and I can tune out.”
That’s regulation.
Negativity often isn’t a mindset flaw.
It’s an overprotective nervous system scanning for threat.
Instead of asking:
“Why am I so negative?”
Try:
“What is my nervous system trying to protect me from?”
Negativity is often vigilance.
And vigilance softens when safety increases.
We don’t shame the strategy.
We update it.
That is growth.
Imagination isn’t childish.
It’s neurological.
Our brains do not fully distinguish between vividly imagined safety and experienced safety.
So you can practice safety before it fully feels real.
Imagine a place where your shoulders drop.
Imagine someone steady sitting next to you.
Imagine your backpack getting lighter with each exhale.
Imagine your internal operating system receiving an update that says:
“You are safe enough right now.”
Imagination can downshift stress chemistry, activate parasympathetic tone, and interrupt negative looping.
It becomes a bridge when reality feels overwhelming.
Maybe you’re not too sensitive.
Maybe you’re not too much.
Maybe you are running very sophisticated wiring.
And sophisticated systems don’t need to be shut down.
They need integration.
Maintenance.
Rest.
Permission to soften.
Before we finish, let’s regulate the scanning system.
Let’s give your system a small reset.
You don’t need to change anything big.
Just soften for a moment.
If you’re sitting, let your feet touch the ground.
If you’re lying down, let your body be supported by gravity.
Take one slow inhale through your nose.
Long, unhurried exhale through your mouth.
Again.
Exhale a little longer than you think you need to.
If your eyes have been scanning, reading, focusing — let them soften.
Let your gaze widen into peripheral vision.
Nothing to focus on. Just space.
Notice your jaw.
Is it holding?
Let your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth.
A tiny wiggle in the jaw.
Small. Unforced.
Now your shoulders.
Roll them a few millimeters forward…
And back.
Slow. Small. Unforced.
Let them land.
On your next exhale, imagine your internal operating system cooling slightly.
Not shutting down.
Just cooling.
Bring awareness to your chest.
Does it feel guarded or open?
Place a hand there if it feels supportive.
No fixing. Just noticing.
Now your belly.
Let it expand on the inhale.
On the exhale, imagine the backpack lightening — just a little.
You don’t have to carry everything right now.
Sense the back of your body.
Even if no one is physically behind you, imagine steady support.
Solid. Quiet. Grounded.
Take one more slow breath.
And softly ask:
“Is there anything I can let go of for the next minute?”
Not forever.
Just for now.
Maybe your shoulders drop half an inch.
Maybe nothing changes.
That’s okay.
Scanning is a brilliant strategy.
But right now, you are safe enough to soften.
One last inhale.
Long exhale.
And when you’re ready, gently return — knowing your system can tune in…
And it can tune out.
My beautiful friends, thank you for joining me today.

When You’re in Freeze But Life Doesn’t Stop
What do you do when your nervous system doesn’t want to budge?
When you’re in freeze — but you still have to live.
You still have to parent.
Work.
Show up.
Cook dinner.
Answer emails.
And your body feels heavy.
Foggy.
Tight.
Braced.
Today I want to talk about freeze — not as pathology, but as physiology.
Hi Beautiful Friends,
Rebekah Aramini Lupo here, creator of Body Illumination.
Freeze is not laziness.
It is not weakness.
It is not lack of discipline.
Freeze is conservation.
When the nervous system perceives prolonged stress or incomplete threat cycles, it shifts toward energy preservation.
Output decreases.
Motivation lowers.
Muscle tone changes.
Pain thresholds shift.
This is intelligent biology.
But when freeze becomes chronic, we begin to see:
• Persistent muscle tension
• Fascial stiffness
• Shallow breathing
• Digestive disruption
• Chronic pain cycles
The body is bracing for protection — not recovery.
We understand muscle recovery.
If you strength train daily without rest, tissue fatigues.
If fascia is dehydrated, it loses glide and elasticity.
If you’re chronically dehydrated, tissue stiffens.
But we rarely apply this same logic to the nervous system.
Dysregulation is nervous system overtraining.
Freeze is often what happens when recovery never happened.
Just like muscles need repair days, the nervous system needs repair states.
And most of us are not getting them.
There’s something else we need to name.
Sometimes we don’t land in freeze because of one big event.
Sometimes our energy gets hijacked all day long — and we never notice.
Not because the world is horrible.
It’s simply how modern systems are designed.
I can personally attest to this when I’m working for hours at the computer.
Algorithms are engineered to hold your attention.
Certain foods spike and crash blood sugar.
Caffeine pushes output.
Alcohol suppresses recovery.
Notifications keep vigilance high.
Some relationships activate old neural pathways.
Can anyone relate?
Drop a comment and let me know what hijacks your energy.
None of this makes you weak.
But it does mean your nervous system is constantly being stimulated.
And stimulation without completion becomes depletion.
Every micro-activation of the stress response costs energy.
Even subtle vigilance:
• Checking your phone
• Anticipating a hard conversation
• Scrolling late at night
• Replaying something someone said
Your system doesn’t distinguish between “small” and “big” activation.
It just responds.
• Reduced recovery capacity
• Increased muscle tone
• Lower pain thresholds
• Fatigue masked as freeze
Freeze is often cumulative drain.
It can feel sneaky — like something is quietly siphoning energy in the background.
Not dramatic.
Not catastrophic.
Just constant.
And when we finally stop, we realize how tired we actually are.
That is not laziness.
That is accumulated load.
Sometimes we’re aware.
“I’m going to see this person and they push my buttons.”
“I’m entering a high-stimulation space.”
“I know this could drain me.”
That awareness is powerful.
When we anticipate activation, we can plan recovery.
Pre-regulate.
Hydrate.
Eat beforehand.
Limit exposure.
Schedule decompression afterward.
I do this all the time.
I know when I’ll need a yin yoga practice or a slow somatic session for decompression — and I plan for it.
That’s nervous system literacy.
Here’s the real question.
What happens when we get zapped unexpectedly — and we still need to function?
We don’t always have the luxury of stopping.
So instead of full regulation, we shift into functional stabilization.
Not calm.
Not healed.
Not fully restored.
Just stable enough.
If you get zapped:
• Lengthen one exhale
• Drop your shoulders 5%
• Press your feet into the ground
• Slow your speech
• Drink water
• Reduce decision load
• Delay non-essential tasks
This is containment.
You are lowering output without collapsing.
This is where practices like Yoga Nidra and Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) become powerful.
These are not indulgent.
They are nervous system repair.
Slow, guided rest states:
• Reduce sympathetic dominance
• Support vagal tone
• Improve pain modulation
• Allow tissue recovery
Even cuddling under a blanket provides:
• Warmth
• Deep pressure
• Containment
• Predictability
Those are safety signals.
Warmth and rhythm are medicine.
When we get zapped and keep pushing, muscles brace.
When muscles brace repeatedly, fascia adapts.
When fascia adapts, movement loses glide.
When glide is lost, pain increases.
You cannot stretch fascia out of a threatened nervous system.
Safety must precede elasticity.
The body adapts to nervous system tone.
That’s why in many of my somatic workouts, we move in and out of slow, gentle somatics before building strength. We support state transitions before increasing load.
There are seasons where the nervous system is carrying more than we consciously know.
In those seasons:
Strength looks like gentleness.
Discipline looks like containment.
Progress looks like 2%.
You are not behind.
You are conserving.
And conservation paired with repair is intelligent healing.
The nervous system moves at the speed of safety.
Not force.
Not shame.
Not productivity.
If you are in freeze and still living your life — that is resilience.
Awareness is the first step.
If you’d like more structure and support, my Weekly Wellness Calendar is linked below, and you can always visit bodyillumination.com for additional resources and memberships.
Now my friends, go shine your beautiful light that is meant to illuminate.
Namaste,
Rebekah

If you are listening to this and you’re feeling a little overwhelmed or sad or disconnected or just a little blah.
I’m really glad you’re here, because even in this moment, listening, breathing, connection is nervous system regulation.
Connection matters, and what’s really cool is that we’re going to move through this together.
If you are new here, hi, I’m Rebekah Aramini Lupo, the creator of Body Illumination.
Today, I wanted to talk about something that we don’t usually discuss.
You do your practice, you show up.
And then you still feel off or blah.
I did my practice, my Pranayama, my yoga, or Pilates, or yin, whatever it might be, you put in the work.
But you still feel heavy and sad.
And it’s not making sense.
If that is ever you, maybe today, or maybe in the past, let me just say this very clearly.
You are not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you.
And your practice didn’t fail.
What’s usually happening is your nervous system is integrating.
We tend to think nervous regulation is a switch.
Like many things.
We do somatics, we do a nervous system reset with Vagus nerve toning.
And suddenly, we should feel calm and at ease.
And sometimes that is the case.
But our nervous system is more like the ocean.
Some days are calm and glistening.
And other days, there’s a lot of white caps, and it’s very choppy.
Your practice isn’t meant to flatten the waves.
It’s there to help you ride them with more awareness.
Sometimes our practice or movement helps to loosen things that are being held very quietly in the body.
Have you ever noticed that people get sick?
Right when they take a vacation?
They’ve been go, go, go, go, and then everything slows down.
And the body collapses.
That is integration.
Sometimes emotions show up after the body slows down, and sometimes it’s the body that needs to catch up to the mind.
Now, it’s important to remember that your practice is working, and science supports this.
For example, body tapping and gentle somatic exercises.
Stimulate the vagus nerve and help shift the body from a stress response to a rest and digest state.
Breathing with longer exhales has been shown to reduce heart rate and lower stress markers.
Subtle movement and fascia work can reduce stored tension and help with emotional regulation.
Now, here is the key part.
Your perception of what is happening is just as important as the practice itself.
You see, your nervous system is not just responding to events.
It’s responding to how you interpret them.
So if you finish a practice and you think, ugh, I should feel better by now, your body hears pressure.
Alternatively, you can think.
Oh, I feel something shifting.
I don’t have to rush this.
Something is working.
Your body hears safety.
This is why guiding your thoughts and your energy is part of regulation.
Not forcing positivity, not bypassing what you feel, but gently sending your thoughts in the direction you want to grow.
And there’s another piece that we often forget, connection.
Regulation doesn’t happen only inside you.
It’s between people, and between nature, and even our furry friends.
Maybe you need a hug, or maybe you need to look into someone’s eyes.
Or maybe you need that moment of being seen.
This is called co regulation, and it’s something that’s innately human and natural.
So if you’re feeling off today or any day, try reaching out into the world or even into our Body Illumination community.
Leave a comment, share an insight or an experience.
And when you do that, you might not realize it, but you are co-regulating for someone else as well.
Go outside, connect with nature, even if it’s cold, or just look for the sun.
Something small, something simple.
Maybe find someone that you love to cuddle with and haven’t in a long time.
Look into someone’s eyes.
Okay, let’s do this.
Feel your feet.
Now, tap along your collarbones.
Inhale, gently.
And then let your exhale be longer than that inhale.
Now, try to find a yawn or a sway or a twist.
Listen to what the body wants to do.
And then notice.
Even subtle shifts matter.
If today your regular go to practice isn’t landing.
It doesn’t mean you’re regressing.
It just might mean that your body wants some variety.
Maybe body tapping instead of your typical yin yoga practice.
Maybe, maybe rest instead of effort.
Your practice still counts, even when you feel heavy.
Maybe you just need to wait, or maybe you need to try something new.
Even when the growth feels dormant.
And this is where something important comes in, faith in this amazing, intuitive being that you are.
Just like water moves, even through rocky terrain, you’ll move through this too.
Just like winter, growth is happening, even when we can’t see it yet.
Thank you for being here and for listening and being part of this community.
Shine your light.
Your somatic calendar for the week is below in the details.
Or just go to bodyillumination.com.
And if you are interested in a little bit more support on your wellness journey, I have both a private YouTube membership and a Patreon membership.
Now, my friends, thank you, thank you for being with me and other like-minded friends.
Go shine your beautiful light,
Namaste.

“Your energy is always communicating.
Your nervous system is always listening.
And nervous system regulation isn’t something we fix once and move on from—it’s something we practice staying ahead of.”
Hi Beautiful Friends,
This week I’ve been reflecting on vibration, energy, and momentum—and how nervous system regulation is an ongoing relationship, not a one-time solution.
And the beautiful thing is—you don’t need big rituals to support it.
Momentum is built through awareness.
Noticing how certain interactions land in your body.
Listening to the clues—like that feeling in your gut, or realizing you’ve been staring at a screen for hours without blinking.
Noticing when your breath gets shallow.
Noticing when your shoulders creep up or your jaw tightens.
These are not problems—they’re signals. And when we listen early, we can stay proactive instead of depleted.
I told my daughter today, “Don’t take it personally.”
She was upset about a math game and felt like “they” were trying to trick her. Whether it was intentional or not, that reminder helped her nervous system settle. It shifted the focus away from the story and back toward care.
Because at the end of the day, we all have nervous systems that need love, attention, and support. It’s very easy to get caught up in a narrative—but when we stay focused on regulation rather than circumstances, we give ourselves more choice and more ease.
I know this is easy to say and often hard to do. But with awareness and small, proactive practices, we really can stay ahead of it.
✨ Staying ahead of regulation looks like:
• Taking 30 seconds to exhale longer than you inhale before responding
• Softening your gaze and dropping your shoulders between tasks
• Gently moving your spine, jaw, or hips to discharge tension before it accumulates
• Choosing foods that feel grounding and stabilizing—not draining or inflammatory for you
Energy isn’t just spiritual—it’s physiological.
Blood sugar swings, overstimulation from technology (or even a conversation), rushed meals, or foods that don’t agree with you can quietly pull your nervous system out of balance. Awareness here is an act of self-respect, not restriction.
🌿 Think micro-practices, not overhaul:
• One minute of slow nasal breathing
• A few gentle somatic sways or circles
• Hands on your body to orient and settle
• Pausing before your next “yes”
These tiny moments add up. They create a steady, resilient baseline where your energy isn’t constantly being drained—and where your vibration naturally rises because your system feels safe.
As human beings, we’re constantly navigating new situations and environments. The question becomes: How can we adapt in ways that make our lives fuller—not more exhausting?
This week, I invite you to ask:
👉 What helps me stay regulated before I feel dysregulated?
👉 What interactions, habits, or foods subtly shift my energy—and how can I respond sooner?
Gentle awareness builds powerful momentum.
Shine your light,
Namaste,
Rebekah

Hi beautiful souls, and welcome.
I’m Rebekah, and today we’re exploring fascia—this living, breathing fabric that weaves everything together in the body.
We’ll talk about what creates healthy, nourishing movement between our tissues… what happens when stress, posture, or unexpressed emotion disrupts that flow… and how practices that I teach on my channel like yin yoga, somatic movement, and mindful Pilates help restore ease, hydration, and connection from the inside out. But of course we are not limited to these practices there are manty more ways to affect the fascia.
As you listen, see if you can soften your breath, feel your body where you are, and allow this conversation to be less about fixing or doing—and more about listening.
Reweaving the Fabric of the Body
This week inside our Weekly Somatic Yoga Calendar, we’re exploring fascia as we often do—not as something rigid or separate, but as a living, intelligent fabric that responds to how we move, how we breathe, how we sit… and how we feel.
I often think of fascia as a vast, interconnected network—almost like the branching, web-like world in Stranger Things—where everything is interrelated, layered, and constantly communicating. Nothing exists in isolation. A change in one place is felt everywhere.
When we experience chronic stress, prolonged sitting at a computer, repetitive postures, or emotional holding, that glide can diminish. Tissue layers start to stick, tug, or pull unevenly. This is what we can think of as poor or unhealthy shearing—often experienced as stiffness, muscle spasms, restricted range of motion, or that familiar feeling of being “locked up.”
Stress, Posture & the Fascia–Nervous System Loop
Stress doesn’t just live in the mind—it alters muscle tone, breathing patterns, and hydration of the fascia itself. When the nervous system is in a persistent state of protection, tissues subtly brace. Over time, this bracing can create uneven tension lines throughout the body.
Think about sitting at a computer for hours, shoulders creeping forward, jaw clenched, breath shallow. That posture isn’t neutral—it changes how fascial layers load and slide. The result can be excessive shear in some areas and not enough movement in others, leading to irritation or spasms.
Emotions in Motion
Fascia is richly innervated and deeply connected to the nervous system. When emotions arise and are allowed to move—through breath, sound, tears, shaking, eye contact or gentle movement—the tissue can adapt and reorganize.
When emotions are suppressed or held, the body often holds with them.
This doesn’t mean emotions are literally “stuck” in one muscle—but that unexpressed emotional energy can contribute to chronic tone, protective holding, and altered fascial dynamics. Over time, this affects how tissues shear and glide.
Yin Yoga offers long, gentle loading of tissue, encouraging hydration and slow reorganization of fascial layers. It creates time and safety—two key ingredients for tissues to soften and for emotions to surface and pass.
Somatic movement restores choice. By moving slowly, sensing internally, and reducing effort, we invite the nervous system to downshift. This allows habitual holding patterns to unwind and improves the quality of shearing between layers.
Pilates, when practiced mindfully, brings balanced tone, intelligent loading, and improved postural awareness—helping distribute force more evenly through the fascial web rather than concentrating stress in one area.
Together, these practices:
The Invitation This Week
Rather than forcing flexibility or strength, this week we explore listening.
Where does your body feel sticky, braced, or overworked? Where does movement feel nourishing and fluid?
As you move through this week’s practices, notice not just what stretches—but what softens, what shifts, and what feels like it finally gets to move again.
This is how we restore the fabric of the body—one gentle, curious moment at a time.
SHINE YOUR LIGHT!
Namaste,
Rebekah

A short story (science + lived experience)
Fascia isn’t just connective tissue — it’s sensory, adaptable, and deeply responsive to how we move, breathe, and live.
I know this firsthand. During profound periods of trauma, I felt weighed down by sadness and tension that I couldn’t shake. I made it through by attending Yin Yoga classes. I was a director of a program and regularly visited my teacher’s classes — and in those moments, I found myself in poses and sequences that made me feel lighter. My sadness lifted, and my body finally had space to breathe.
Many people notice that when they slow down in Yin or somatic movement, sensations arise that feel emotional, familiar, or surprisingly meaningful. This isn’t because the body is “reliving the past,” but because fascia and the nervous system are shaped by repeated experiences — posture, stress, protection, and patterns over time. When we soften load and bring awareness, the body finally has space to update those patterns.
Try this first (1–3 minute embodied practice)
Before reading further, pause.
No fixing. Just noticing.
This is somatic awareness — the doorway to change… a portal that I call the SOMATIC BRIDGE.
The science (accessible, not overwhelming)
Research suggests:
Read more here:
Reflection (one question is enough)
👉 If this sensation could speak, what would it want you to know right now?
You don’t need an answer — curiosity is enough. In fact, I usually don’t recommend that you try to figure it out. Just realize it is a nice to let go, a time for self-care.
Your body is not holding you back.
It’s been protecting you with the tools it had at the time.
When we slow down, listen, and feel — we give it new options.
✨ Shine your light
Namaste,
Rebekah

This week, I want to speak to something tender—and deeply human and personal:
our pain, our sadness, our losses…something we al experience at different points in our lives and how they can become portals for growth rather than places we get stuck.
Loss changes us.
Whether it’s the loss of a person, a season of life, a version of ourselves— this is big— really big – we question who we are- health, certainty, or safety—
grief doesn’t just live in the mind.
It lives in the body.
I know this because I feel it too.
Sadness has a weight.
It settles into the chest, the belly, the hips, the breath.
And in a world that moves so quickly, we’re often encouraged to “be strong,” to keep going, to move on before we’ve truly felt what’s here.
There is often a comparison of pain. To move on. That what happened to you is petty. It’s not. It is your perception and that is okay.
The body doesn’t forget.
It waits.
✨ Pain and loss create contrast.
And contrast brings clarity.
When something hurts, it shows us what mattered.
What we loved.
What we long for.
And from that contrast, something honest begins to emerge.
This is where somatic practice becomes such a powerful ally.
When we move slowly and consciously—
when we let the breath soften the nervous system—
we give sadness permission to move through instead of staying stuck.
And my hope is this give you more autonomy in your life, more independence.
🌀 Release first. Then reconnect.
Somatic movement doesn’t rush grief.
It doesn’t try to fix sadness.
It simply creates safety so emotions can complete their natural cycle.
And on the other side of release—sometimes subtle, sometimes profound—
there is space. How you can connect to it intimately is unique.
In that space, I like to introduce what I call “the somatic bridge.”
Not goals born from pressure…
but gentle signals born from truth.
After loss, we often become clearer about what we don’t want anymore.
From there, we can begin to ask:
This is somatic growth.
Growth that honors where you’ve been—
without letting pain be the final chapter.
Sometimes moving forward doesn’t mean leaving sadness behind.
It means letting it move, breathe, and transform.
Your body is not broken because it feels deeply.
It is wise.
This week, I invite you to:
🌿 Move gently with what’s real
🌿 Allow grief and tenderness to have space
🌿 Release what the body is ready to let go of
🌿 And consciously connect to what wants to be born next
You don’t have to rush your healing.
You only have to stay present with yourself.
I’m right here with you.
Shine your light my beautiful friends!
With love and compassion,
Namaste,
Rebekah 💛

This January, I am approaching things a little bit different.
Instead of treating January as the one moment for renewal, I’m remembering that each day is a beginning.
Each breath. Each time I get on the mat.
Each moment we return to ourselves.
Every day is a quiet rebirth — a new opportunity to connect, to evolve, to be present, to experiment, to listen.
Remembering this every morning when my feet hit the floor.
And also… to remember that this moment is enough — and that I am enough — just as I am — and to let that unfold. I don’t have to push so hard. I don’t have to be some idea in my head or someone else’s head for that matter. Let go of the narrative and the standards we set unknowingly.
In need of a mani-pedi.
Kids being kids.
Life being messy.
Hair doing its own thing.
My heart still mending from the loss of so much love in my life.
Tired eyes that still sparkle with life.
A body showing up honestly after long days of work and running around.
We often believe we must become something, look different, act differently — be more — before we’re allowed to rest in ourselves. But the body doesn’t work that way.
The body doesn’t ask to be perfect before it heals.
It simply asks for awareness, for connection.
And really — who decides what “perfect” even is?
Somatic work teaches me this again and again. Healing doesn’t come from force or fixing. It comes from meeting ourselves exactly where we are, without resistance — and embracing what’s here.
And when we stop resisting the moment we’re in, something surprising happens —
possibility expands.
Not the loud, dramatized kind we see in movies.
But the steady, grounded kind that grows from safety and self-trust. It’s a form of faith.
You can have goals and still find ease.
You can be strong and have ease in your life.
You can be on a path and still belong to this moment.
You can evolve without rejecting who you are today.
So today — just for a moment —
take a breath.
Feel your feet.
Notice that you’re already doing something brave.
You are here, in this moment.
You’re living your life as it is.
Maybe you find a lyric to sing along with, a song to dance to, or a small moment that reminds you you’re alive. I like to look at nature. I like to dance with my kids and sing like I’m some superstar. What makes you really sparkle. Do that today. Do it now. Not when and you can fill in the blank. Now, let now be your future and sparkle and shine now. Embrace life now. Our practices unearth and uncover those excuses.
I like to dance with my kids. So why am I not dancing with my kids?
And that is not only enough —
it’s where everything meaningful begins.
SHINE YOUR LIGHT!
Namaste,
Rebekah

This is Rebekah Aramini Lupo the creator of Body Illumination.
As a new year unfolds, there’s a familiar hum in the air — goals, plans, intentions, resolutions. I can hear that familiar question, “what are your new year resolutions?” A quiet (or not-so-quiet) pressure to optimize, improve, do more.
And yet… I find myself pausing.
I have so many ideas I’m excited about. Practices I want to create. Dreams that feel alive and meaningful.
And I also have kids who need me. A life that is full. Days that are unpredictable. Energy that ebbs and flows. I mean — I missed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year. I had the flu. First year ever… and yet.
Some seasons allow for big leaps.
Others invite us to stay close to the ground.
This year, I’m choosing to let where I am now be enough.
Not as a resignation — but as a deep act of self-trust.
Somatic work has taught me this again and again:
When we stop forcing the body, it softens.
When we listen instead of push, it responds.
When we meet sensation with curiosity rather than judgment, things naturally begin to shift.
Life works the same way.
Before reading on, I invite you into a brief somatic pause — right where you are:
Let your feet connect with the floor or your seat beneath you.
Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly.
Notice your breath — no need to change it.
Ask gently: What feels supportive right now?
Stay with whatever answer arises… even if it’s simply “rest” or “nothing more.”
You don’t need to overhaul yourself to be worthy of growth.
You don’t need to have a perfectly mapped-out plan to be moving forward.
And you certainly don’t need to rush.
If your days are full of caretaking, tending, surviving, loving — that counts.
If your nervous system is asking for steadiness rather than stretch — that’s wisdom.
If your intentions feel more like whispers than declarations — listen closely.
This year, I’m letting my practices, my work, and my life evolve from the inside out — shaped by presence, not pressure.
Instead of a resolution, here’s a soft intention you might carry into the year:
✨ May I meet myself where I am.
✨ May I trust that small, steady steps are still movement.
Or simply: What would “enough” feel like today?
My invitation to you as we step into this new chapter:
✨ Be gentle with with life and yourself
✨ Allow “enough” to be enough
There is nothing behind about moving at the pace of your life. Isn’t that amazing???
I’m so grateful to be walking this path with you. Happy New Year!
SHINE YOUR LIGHT!
Namaste,
Rebekah

Hey there—this is Rebekah Aramini Lupo, creator of Body Illumination. For this week’s Somatic Calendar, I felt it was especially meaningful to pause and reflect on the solstice that is upon us.
For some of our friends in the Southern Hemisphere, you are approaching the Summer Solstice. For many of us in the North, we’re stepping into the Winter Solstice—snow boots, mitten and all. Both are powerful turning points, worthy of being observed, just like the key moments and transitions in our own lives.
As we arrive at the Winter Solstice, we meet the longest night of the year—a sacred pause point in nature’s rhythm. This moment marks both an ending and a beginning. While the darkness reaches its peak, the light is quietly being reborn. I think of that beautiful moment when the sun flares up behind darkness and then poof it blends into the sky. From here, the days slowly lengthen, reminding us that even in stillness, life is moving forward.
Winter teaches us that everything has its time and season. There are moments for expansion and action, and there are moments for rest, digestion, and repair. In our bodies, in our nervous systems, and in our lives, cycles are always at play. When we honor these rhythms instead of resisting them – which trust me I struggle with this, but we honor them we create space for healing, clarity, and renewal.
This season naturally invites us inward. Energy turns toward conservation, reflection, and rejuvenation. Just as the earth rests beneath the surface, our bodies and minds benefit from slowing down, softening effort, and listening more deeply. Somatic movement, yin yoga, and nervous system regulation practices align beautifully with this phase—supporting our physiology as it recalibrates and restores.
The solstice reminds us that rest is not an interruption to growth—it is part of the process. Darkness is not something to push away; it is a womb for insight, creativity, and resilience. In honoring where you are right now whether full of joy or full of sorrow, you prepare the ground for what will emerge next.
As we move through this week’s practices, consider what you are being asked to release, and what you are gently nurturing beneath the surface. Imagine the crowcus that pushes through the cold earth. Imagine your miracle. There is no rush. The light returns gradually, and so do we—steadily, patiently, and in our own time.
May this solstice offer you permission to rest, to trust the cycle you’re in, and to remember that even the smallest increase in light is meaningful.
SHINE YOUR LIGHT!
Namaste,
Rebekah

Hi Beautiful Friends, LISTEN HERE
Hi Beautiful Friends,
This is Rebekah Aramini lupo creator of body illumination
This week, I want to invite you to gently tune in to your fascia — the connective tissue network that wraps every muscle, organ, and nerve. YES – YES I AM OBSESSED WITH FASCIA. Recent research is reshaping (pun intended) how we think about fascia, not just as structural support, but as a sensory system deeply linked with the nervous system, emotional experience, and stress regulation.
In many ways, fascia is like the nadis described in yoga: subtle channels that carry prana (life force) throughout the body. Both fascia and nadis connect the whole body, transmitting energy, tension, and signals. When movement is restricted or stress accumulates, these pathways can feel “blocked,” contributing to discomfort, stiffness, or emotional heaviness very much like the meridian system.
Somatic practices — gentle Pilates, yoga, and movement sequences — help release these blocks, restore flow, and promote healing. By mindfully moving and breathing, you’re helping your fascia glide, stimulating the nervous system, and encouraging both physical and emotional release.
As fascia researcher Garry Lineham notes,
“Fascia is your body’s living internet… it senses, moves, adapts, protects and records everything you experience.” (wellbeing.com.au)
Similarly, Bordoni & Marelli write:
“The myofascial continuum… stimulates the areas of the brain that control the emotional state.” (karger.com)
This week, notice how movement and breath influence the flow through your fascia — much like activating the nadis in yoga. When you stretch, roll, or release tension, you’re not just loosening muscles; you’re allowing energy and signals to move more freely, supporting your nervous system, emotional balance, and overall vitality.
OKAY Here is a Mini Practice for Fascia & Nadi Awareness
Our somatic calendar isn’t just about mobility, flexibility, or strength — it’s about tuning in, sensing, and supporting the natural flow of energy and healing in your body and mind.
Namaste,
Rebekah

Hi Beautiful Friends, LISTEN HERE
One of the central somatic truths is that life doesn’t wait for us to “feel ready.” This week, I moved through loss and heartache. I’m not ready to share the details yet — but I will share this: grief, sadness, and anxiety can be quiet shapeshifters. They build momentum slowly, like tension accumulating in the fascia. And when we stop moving, stop showing up, stop breathing with intention, the emotional charge has more room to grow.
I took breaths — ten big sighs at a time. I didn’t want to, and I didn’t think I needed them in the moment. But the pain needed processing. And I knew from my own practice, from past experiences, from everything I teach and study, that movement and breath would help me navigate it.
This week’s message is about staying in motion — gently — even when you’re hurting.
A regulated breath taken during heartbreak is not wasted.
A small action taken during a hard week is not wasted.
Every micro-skill of presence — a grounding, a check-in, a stretch, a boundary — compounds.
Somatically, these moments build neural pathways that whisper:
“Even in pain, I can orient.”
“Even in overwhelm, I can locate one breath.”
“Even in loss, I am still alive and moving.”
Each moment nudges you a little farther away from dorsal vagal shutdown.
This accumulation is what creates resilience — through repetition, not perfection.
Putting yourself out there doesn’t mean forcing or performing.
It might look like:
showing up at 20%, or 40%, or 60%
saying yes to connection even when your heart feels heavy
naming your emotional state instead of hiding it
taking a few breaths in the car before walking in
letting your shoulders drop instead of bracing through everything
It’s not about being “on.”
It’s about staying connected — to yourself, to others, to life.
Grief has momentum.
Sadness has seasons.
Anxiety has cycles.
When we don’t engage somatically, these energies harden — settling into the fascia, the breath, the posture.
Gentle embodiment, breathwork, and small acts of participation keep them from becoming stuck patterns.
You’re not trying to eliminate the emotion — you’re keeping it mobile, digestible, metabolizable.
Every breath you take now becomes a resource later.
Every act of courage becomes a baseline.
Every regulated moment during dysregulation becomes a memory your body can draw from when the next wave comes.
This is the long game of somatic work:
Showing up, imperfectly, again and again, so your future self feels the difference — maybe not immediately, but inevitably.
Namaste,
Rebekah

Hi Beautiful Friends, LISTEN HERE
The more I learn about trauma, the more intrigued I become. Trauma comes in so many forms—physically, emotionally, and even energetically. I’m not saying we need to label ourselves or our experiences to benefit from understanding how our bodies hold onto stress. Did you know that even something as seemingly small as a pesky tooth filling can create a form of trauma? Of course, there are degrees—big life events, chronic stress, and those tiny unprocessed moments that we don’t even realize affected us. It all depends on how we interpret and internalize the experience.
Our fascia, the connective tissue that wraps around muscles, organs, and joints, is like a living memory of these moments. It’s absolutely fascinating. Fascia doesn’t just hold tension—it also stores neuropeptides, the chemical messengers of our emotions. This is one reason unprocessed experiences can linger in our tissues long after the moment has passed, even when we believe we’ve “moved on.”
The amazing thing is that awareness is the first step in self-care, and gentle, mindful somatic movement can help release, transform, and heal these stored patterns. As we move, breathe, stretch, and soften, we give our body a way to metabolize those neuropeptides and create new emotional impressions—ones rooted in safety, connection, and presence.
This week, I invite you to tune into your body with curiosity, explore your fascia with gentle somatic exercises, and notice how movement can unlock tension, restore your prana and qi, and bring a sense of ease back into your body and your life. Healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about the evolution of yourself. Does that make sense? When we understand how trauma and life events shape us, we become more attuned, more aware, and better equipped to navigate our inner and outer world. And the self-nurturing and compassion we cultivate within… naturally overflows to everyone around us which is so amazing.
This I have a somatic yoga class on the calendar. Give it a try even if you don’t think you have trauma in the body. Try it and see what happens.
Shine your beautiful light Friends!
Namaste,
Rebekah

Hi Beautiful Friends, LISTEN HERE
This week, many of us are celebrating a day of thankfulness, but what does gratitude really do for us?
When we consciously connect to gratitude, something powerful happens: our energy shifts instantly. Our heart opens, our brain responds, and our body follows. Gratitude isn’t just a mental exercise—it’s a somatic experience. It flows through our body, softening tension, grounding us, and reconnecting us to the present moment.
Over time, we’ve drifted so far from truly feeling in our bodies—both the joys and the discomforts—that we forget the incredible wisdom our body holds. By practicing gratitude mindfully, we awaken that awareness. We notice the small sparks of joy, the ease of a deep breath, the gentle rhythm of our heartbeat. We remember that our bodies are alive with intelligence, and gratitude is a doorway back to that connection.
This week, I invite you to try a small practice—especially if family or friends push buttons you didn’t even know you had: pause, place your hand on your heart, and breathe into a moment of gratitude. Let yourself feel it fully. Notice how your energy, posture, thoughts, and even your breath respond. That simple acknowledgment can ripple through your whole system.
Gratitude is more than words—it’s a somatic practice. The more we bring it into our daily lives, the more we cultivate joy, presence, and resilience from the inside out.
With love and light,
Rebekah

This week I wanted to talk about something that I am looking for motivation. It often gets lost with the busyness of life and other people‘s agendas.
And yeah, without motivation it’s like driving a car without navigation or any direction
-it is actually that inner current that moves us toward action, creativity, and connection. Sometimes it’s loud and electric, and other times, it hums quietly beneath the surface, waiting for us to tune in.
Motivation looks different for everyone. For some, — feeling good in your body . For others, it’s — the freedom that comes from stability and flow. Maybe it’s friendship and community, being surrounded by people who lift your spirit. Or perhaps your drive is metaphysical — the longing to grow, expand, and align with your purpose.
No matter what lights your spark, motivation is deeply connected to your nervous system. When we are regulated — grounded, calm, and connected — our motivation flows naturally. When we are dysregulated or in survival mode, that same motivation can feel distant or forced.
Our somatic and yin yoga practices help us reconnect to that inner current. Each time you pause, breathe, soften, or stretch into sensation, you’re rewiring your nervous system and creating new pathways for energy and clarity. These practices are accumulative — each moment of mindfulness adds up. Over time, we feel the difference in our bodies and see it reflected in our lives.
So this week, as you move through your calendar:
✨ Notice what truly motivates you.
✨ Let your body guide you — where do you feel that spark?
✨ Remember that consistency, not intensity, is where transformation happens.
You’re building your foundation — breath by breath, moment by moment.
With love and illumination,
Rebekah

Very recently, I went to saunas at a spa hoping for an exhale of relief. You know that feeling when you imagine everything melting away — the stress, the worry, the layers of doing and thinking?
But instead… nothing moved.
I sat there for almost two hours, in different saunas, sweating, breathing, waiting — and it felt like my whole body was wrapped in invisible Saran Wrap. I don’t think I could even cry. Tight, unmoving, almost protective.
At first, I felt frustrated. I wanted something to shift. I expected release. But as I softened into the moment, I realized — this was part of the process. My body wasn’t ready to let go yet. My fascia, my stress, my pain was lingering. It was still holding, still guarding, still whispering: “Not quite safe enough.”
The next day, something shifted. I woke up and could feel my fascia hydrated — that incredible web of connective tissue that wraps and protects everything inside us — beginning to soften and breathe again. I felt an inner unwinding, sort of like the caterpillar. You know right before it becomes the butterfly.
That’s the thing about stress release — it doesn’t always happen on our timeline. Sometimes the awareness itself is the first layer of release. Karen from our Body Illumination community commented last week on one of my a classes, “I usually feel the effects of your class the next day…such physical liberation (and mental during the class).”
Thanks Karen!
This week, I invite you to tune in:
Where do you feel that inner “wrap” of tension or guarding?
Can you let awareness — not effort — be your release?
Your fascia, your nervous system, your whole being — they respond to compassion more than force.
Shine your light, my friends!
Namaste,
Rebekah 💛

Take a moment and look down at your feet. Feel them on the earth beneath you. Let yourself simply be here, now, in this very moment.
Maybe life isn’t perfect right now. Maybe there’s old trauma lingering, work isn’t what you imagined, relationships feel “meh,” or something just isn’t clicking. That’s okay.
I remind myself: life is not tomorrow, or next week, or next year—now is happening. Embrace it.
Right here, right now, you have a choice: notice something—anything—you can love in this moment. Taste it, feel it in your fingers, your toes, your tongue. Really experience it. Let it fill you.
And just like that—swish!—the moment passes, and you move on to the next. Something new, something exciting, something waiting for you.
Ground yourself. Feel. Love this moment. And watch life unfold, one small, powerful instant at a time.
Shine your light,
Rebekah ✨

Hi Beautiful Friends, LISTEN HERE
In life, we often look for the big signs — the loud, ostentatious, obvious messages that tell us what to dive into. But more often, it’s the small bread crumbs that guide us. Tiny sensations. Gentle nudges. Quiet whispers.
On the mat, these breadcrumbs might show up as:
• A subtle shift in your breath
• A wave of sensation through your fascia
• A moment of ease in a pose where there was once resistance
• A quiet voice that says, “Yes…”
In life, they may appear as synchronicities, a thought that keeps returning, a conversation that stirs something within, or a sense of curiosity gently pulling you forward. These moments are our body and spirit’s way of guiding us home to ourselves.
Somatic practice teaches us how to slow down, tune in, and trust — to follow the path as it reveals itself, step by step, even when we can’t see the full map. When we listen, those breadcrumbs lead us exactly where we need to go.
As you move through your Somatic Wellness Calendar this week, I invite you to notice the breadcrumbs:
🌿 What sensations are calling your attention?
🌿 Where does your breath feel most alive?
🌿 What gentle whispers are guiding your choices?
Follow them. Trust the unfolding.
Shine your light,
Rebekah ✨

Hi Beautiful Friends,
This week has been… interesting. As most of you know, my system is down, and I’m working on a much slower computer. At first, I felt frustrated, thinking about all the tasks piling up. But then I realized—maybe this is an invitation to slow down.
And speaking of slowing down, I met a friend for a yoga class this week. Yes, a yoga class! And it was yin—slow, gentle, and absolutely lovely. I was so relaxed, I actually fell asleep during savasana. Isn’t that just the best feeling?
It reminded me that sometimes, slowing down isn’t a luxury—it’s exactly what we need to recharge, reset, and reconnect with ourselves, even in the middle of a crazy week.
So, wherever you are today, I invite you to find a moment of stillness. Take a breath. Stretch slowly. Let your body and mind feel the relief of just being—not doing.
Sending calm and gentle energy your way, SHINE YOUR LIGHT!

Hi Beautiful Friends, 🌸
This week at 4 a.m., my family and I were startled awake by a loud crash. My heart raced, my body braced — it felt like we were under siege. But after a breathless pause, we realized it was only my daughter falling out of her bed. She was perfectly fine, but the experience stuck with me.
It reminded me how often we misinterpret signals — not just in life, but in our bodies. A tight chest might feel like danger, but sometimes it’s simply held tension. A flutter in the belly might be read as fear, but it could just as easily be excitement.
Our nervous system is wired to protect us, and sometimes it sounds the alarm when we don’t need it. This is where somatics, presence, and curiosity come in. Instead of rushing to a conclusion, we can pause, breathe, and listen deeper. We can ask: What is my body really saying?
Somatic yoga and gentle somatic exercises give us tools to explore these sensations with kindness. Rather than judging or fearing what arises, we meet our body like a friend. Over time, this builds trust — and helps us distinguish between a real “siege” and a simple bump in the night.
This week, I invite you to move with curiosity. Notice your breath, your shoulders, your jaw, your heart rate. Ask with compassion: What message is here for me?
Because when we shift from misunderstanding to curiosity, we open the door to healing. 🌿
With love and presence,
Rebekah

Hi Beautiful Friends, 💛
This week, I want to talk about something we all wrestle with—feeling lazy.
How often do you catch yourself saying:
👉 “I should be doing more.”
👉 “I’m being unproductive.”
👉 “Why am I so lazy today?”
Here’s the truth: lazy is usually not the real story.
Most of the time, what we call “lazy” is actually functional freeze—a nervous system response where we feel overwhelmed, depleted, or unable to take the next step. Instead of recognizing it as our body’s way of slowing us down to protect us, we label it as a flaw.
But you are not broken. You are not lazy. 💛
Pause the inner dialogue for a moment. You are human, and your nervous system is asking for nurturing.
What if, instead of beating ourselves up, we honored those moments? A glass of water, a 5-minute somatic practice, gentle movement, a nourishing nap, or simply sitting in stillness can be exactly the medicine your body is craving.
When we honor these pauses, we are not losing productivity—we are restoring the very energy that allows us to move forward with clarity and strength.
So the next time you hear that inner voice whisper “I’m lazy,” try this reframe:
✨ “My body is asking for rejuvenation.”
✨ “I am giving myself space to reset.”
✨ “Nourishment comes before productivity.”
By nurturing your nervous system instead of labeling yourself, you’ll discover that stillness is not laziness—it’s wisdom. 🌿
Shine your light!
Namaste,
Rebekah
