Just Date Syrup – named “The Perfect Natural Sweetener” by Bon Appetit – Organic, Low glycemic index, Vegan, Gluten-Free

I love the idea of using JUST DATES as a sweetner.  I often put dates in smoothies and sweets as an ingredient.  This is another great alternative.  CHECK OUT THE COMPARISON CHART BELOW.

Raw Cacao Nibs

We love chocolate!  Raw Cacao gives you all of the benefits of chocolate before it is heated and processed.  It can be mixed with dates or banana in recipes to enhance the flavors.  The nibs are a nice alternative to the powder.  It gives the recipes more texture and depth.

McCormick Color From Nature, 0.51 oz

We are efinitely not a fan or artificial dyes especially when there are alternatives.

This is Perfect for coloring, baking, making slime, creating lotions, coloring make-ups and more.  The Sky Blue, Berry and Sunflower colors are derived from plants, vegetables and seeds.  It blends easily and is reasonably priced.

Date Lady Pure ORGANIC Date Sugar NON-GMO, VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE & KOSHER A Complete Whole Food Sweetener and Great Sugar Alternative in Baking 12oz 1

As seen above, with Just Dates, the Date Lady equally has some nice options.  Dates are rich in dietary potassium, fiber and contain a wide range of trace elements like boron, cobalt, copper, fluorine, magnesium, manganese, selenium, and zinc! Did you know dates have more potassium ounce for ounce then a banana? Dates contain iron and magnesium. This is a nice option for baking! Replace white sugar 1:1 in recipes, reduce flour by 25%.  Heads-up:  it does not dissolve well in beverages because of the fiber content.

Anthony’s Organic Whole Cloves (1lb), Gluten Free, Non-GMO

When I think of cloves, I think of the holidays and warm soup and festive deserts.  However, were you aware cloves contains the most powerful germicidal agent in the herbal kingdom?, Eugenol! It also contains caryophyllene, which is a powerful antimicrobial agent. These components travel through the bloodstream, killing microscopic parasites and parasitic larvae and eggs.

Cloves kill malaria, tuberculosis, cholera, scabies and other parasites, viruses, bacteria and fungi, including Candida. And more…Cloves also destroy all species of Shigella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus. It is best consumed with black walnut hulls and wormwood

Cloves has traditionally been used in dental procedures. If you have a sore tooth, chew on cloves.  Research is now finding that clove water extract may be effective against many different kinds of bacteria, including E. coli.

It is equally amazing, this ingredient brings unique and distinct flavor profiles to soups, cookies, smoothies, veggies and more. Cloves offer a  camphor-like, slightly bitter, and highly aromatic flavor profile. It has similar flavor notes to allspice but is much stronger. The spice is known for its intensity, which means that you will need to be careful with how much of you use. Be careful, in small amounts, it can overpower the other flavors in a dish.  A very small amount can serve as a nice compliment to other spices and works great with sweet and savory flavors.

Antibacterial and Antifungal Activities of Spices

Bragg USDA Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, With The Mother 16 Ounces Natural Cleanser, Promotes Weight Loss – Pack of 2 w/Measuring Spoon

THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO PRAISE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.  Bragg is my go-to brand (with Mother!).  I put it in my water and drink it through out the day.   It is great in marinades, dressings… you can mix it with honey, lemon and hot water for a yummy relaxing tea.  I give my potatoes a apple cider vinegar wash to give them  salt/vinegar taste.

It is an excellent product for lowering one’s Ph factor, acidity in the body.  I have even used a tiny, tiny drop in my neti pot to help clear out sinuses. The probiotics, acetic acid, and the nutrients in it are responsible for its health benefits.

When making it, the first step is to expose crushed apples (or apple cider) to yeast, which ferment the sugars and turn them into alcohol.  In the second step, bacteria is added to the alcohol solution, which further ferment the alcohol and turn it into acetic acid — the main active compound in vinegar.  Organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (like Bragg’s) also contains “mother,” strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria that give the product a murky appearance.

Earth Clinic has a very comprehensive list.

Bragg Liquid Aminos 16 Oz Pack of 2

Bragg Liquid Aminos are so versatile. It tastes milder than soy sauce. It’s naturally gluten-free and does not have any chemical preservatives.  Plus it lends lends itself to some recipes.  I love it in so many dishes with mushrooms, veggies, marinades, rice bowls, quinoa, lentils and dressings. Liquid aminos contain both essential and non-essential amino acids, but they’re used in such small amounts, they’re not a significant source of dietary protein. Their free glutamate content gives them a savory umami flavor that reduces hunger after meals and makes food more tasty and filling.  It helps to keep you satiated. YEP!  It help you get filled-up.

Bragg Nutritional Premium Yeast Seasoning, 4.5 Ounce

Bragg Nutritional yeast non-dairy. It has a nutty, yummy cheese flavor.  It contains no salt, sugar,no egg, milk, gluten, wheat, corn, no starch, soy, animal derivatives, no artificial colors & preservatives, no Candida albicans yeast or brewery by-products as in brewer’s yeast. The ingredients are: “Inactive dry yeast, Niacin (B3),Pyridoxine HCI (B6), Riboflavin (B2),Thiamin HCI (B1), Folic Acid and Vitamin B12).  I am not crazy about folic acid – I prefer folate.  That is the one downside.

It is yeast but it is dried, and rendered inactive. So it will not work to make bread rise, nutritional yeast is high in protein though, and is part of the mushroom family. Often it is used to make a vegetarian of vegan meal healthier and tastier.

Try it in a sauce, sprinkle over popcorn, or in steamed vegetables, add to dressings, kale…it is extremely versatile.  If you are looking for a product that mimics the creamy, savory components of cheese, this might be your next best kitchen ingredient.
