    In life, we often look for the big signs — the loud, ostentatious, obvious messages that tell us what to dive into. But more often, it’s the small bread crumbs that guide us. Tiny sensations. Gentle nudges. Quiet whispers.

    On the mat, these breadcrumbs might show up as:
    • A subtle shift in your breath
    • A wave of sensation through your fascia
    • A moment of ease in a pose where there was once resistance
    • A quiet voice that says, “Yes…”

    In life, they may appear as synchronicities, a thought that keeps returning, a conversation that stirs something within, or a sense of curiosity gently pulling you forward. These moments are our body and spirit’s way of guiding us home to ourselves.

    Somatic practice teaches us how to slow down, tune in, and trust — to follow the path as it reveals itself, step by step, even when we can’t see the full map. When we listen, those breadcrumbs lead us exactly where we need to go.

    This week has been… interesting. As most of you know, my system is down, and I’m working on a much slower computer. At first, I felt frustrated, thinking about all the tasks piling up. But then I realized—maybe this is an invitation to slow down.

    And speaking of slowing down, I met a friend for a yoga class this week. Yes, a yoga class! And it was yin—slow, gentle, and absolutely lovely. I was so relaxed, I actually fell asleep during savasana. Isn’t that just the best feeling?

    It reminded me that sometimes, slowing down isn’t a luxury—it’s exactly what we need to recharge, reset, and reconnect with ourselves, even in the middle of a crazy week.

    What We Overlook on and off the mat

    Hi Beautiful Friends,
    This week I’ve been reflecting on the meaning of inclusion. We often think of inclusion as something we extend outward—making space for others, acknowledging differences, and offering a seat at the table. And yes, that’s a vital part of it. But there’s also a quieter, more intimate kind of inclusion: the way we include ourselves.
    When we practice true inclusion, it isn’t about forcing a relationship or pretending we’re the same. It’s about noticing the differences—whether that’s with people, experiences, or even the parts of ourselves—and allowing them to belong.
    This is particularly close to my heart. In my family, I have someone who is d/hoh (deaf or hard of hearing). I see how often people misinterpret her—assuming she’s being rude or disengaged—when in reality, she is simply missing information. When we invite the possibility that there’s another explanation, another perspective, we create space not just for her, but for ourselves too. We start to include the parts of us that feel unseen, unheard, or misunderstood.
    On the mat, this might look like honoring the body you bring with you today instead of pushing to meet yesterday’s version of yourself. Maybe it means giving yourself a longer recovery instead of rushing through. Off the mat, it could be listening when your body whispers for stillness, or when your heart longs for connection.
    I’ll admit—I rush. I run around, trying to fit it all in, trying to show up perfectly for everyone. But when I’m doing that, I often forget to show up perfectly for myself. I neglect learning about myself, and I don’t leave room for the softer, quieter parts of me that also deserve a voice.
    Inclusion, then, becomes an invitation:
    ✨ To listen instead of push.
    ✨ To welcome the messy, imperfect parts as much as the polished ones.
    ✨ To stop on the mat—and then take that same awareness off the mat.
    This week, I invite you to practice inclusion—not just with others, but with yourself. Notice what you’ve been pushing aside. Include it. Give it space. You may be surprised at the peace and wholeness that follows.

    What I Learned at 4 a.m.

    Hi Beautiful Friends, 🌸

    This week at 4 a.m., my family and I were startled awake by a loud crash. My heart raced, my body braced — it felt like we were under siege. But after a breathless pause, we realized it was only my daughter falling out of her bed. She was perfectly fine, but the experience stuck with me.

    It reminded me how often we misinterpret signals — not just in life, but in our bodies. A tight chest might feel like danger, but sometimes it’s simply held tension. A flutter in the belly might be read as fear, but it could just as easily be excitement.

    Our nervous system is wired to protect us, and sometimes it sounds the alarm when we don’t need it. This is where somatics, presence, and curiosity come in. Instead of rushing to a conclusion, we can pause, breathe, and listen deeper. We can ask: What is my body really saying?

    Somatic yoga and gentle somatic exercises give us tools to explore these sensations with kindness. Rather than judging or fearing what arises, we meet our body like a friend. Over time, this builds trust — and helps us distinguish between a real “siege” and a simple bump in the night.

    This week, I invite you to move with curiosity. Notice your breath, your shoulders, your jaw, your heart rate. Ask with compassion: What message is here for me?

    Because when we shift from misunderstanding to curiosity, we open the door to healing. 🌿

    The real story behind “I’m So Lazy”

    Hi Beautiful Friends, 💛

    This week, I want to talk about something we all wrestle with—feeling lazy.

    How often do you catch yourself saying:
    👉 “I should be doing more.”
    👉 “I’m being unproductive.”
    👉 “Why am I so lazy today?”

    Here’s the truth: lazy is usually not the real story.

    Most of the time, what we call “lazy” is actually functional freeze—a nervous system response where we feel overwhelmed, depleted, or unable to take the next step. Instead of recognizing it as our body’s way of slowing us down to protect us, we label it as a flaw.

    But you are not broken. You are not lazy. 💛
    Pause the inner dialogue for a moment. You are human, and your nervous system is asking for nurturing.

    What if, instead of beating ourselves up, we honored those moments? A glass of water, a 5-minute somatic practice, gentle movement, a nourishing nap, or simply sitting in stillness can be exactly the medicine your body is craving.

    When we honor these pauses, we are not losing productivity—we are restoring the very energy that allows us to move forward with clarity and strength.

    So the next time you hear that inner voice whisper “I’m lazy,” try this reframe:
    ✨ “My body is asking for rejuvenation.”
    ✨ “I am giving myself space to reset.”
    ✨ “Nourishment comes before productivity.”

    By nurturing your nervous system instead of labeling yourself, you’ll discover that stillness is not laziness—it’s wisdom. 🌿

    Tears as Medicine: A Nervous System Reset

    Hi Beautiful Friends, 💛

    This week in our Weekly Somatic Workout Calendar, I want to shine a light on something many of us resist—crying.
    As a society, we’ve been taught to “hold it together,” “stay strong,” and “wipe away the tears.” But here’s the truth: crying is not weakness—it’s a profound somatic release. I’ll admit, I still catch myself holding back sometimes… and then I just let the tears flow. My kids tease me for it, but I’m trying to show them that tears are not about wallowing—they are about renewing.
    Science agrees. Emotional tears are chemically different from the ones we shed while chopping onions. They actually contain stress hormones like cortisol and prolactin, along with natural painkillers called endorphins. When we cry, we’re not falling apart—we’re literally releasing stress and rebalancing our nervous system.
    ✨ A 2014 study published in Motivation and Emotion found that people often feel better after crying, especially when they feel safe and supported.✨ Research in Frontiers in Psychology shows that crying stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system—the “rest and digest” branch—helping us return to calm after a wave of emotion.
    I like to think of crying as the body’s built-in myofascial release system for the soul. Just as somatic yoga softens tight fascia with movement and breath, tears soften the emotional knots that words can’t always reach.
    So this week, as you move through the practices in our calendar, notice what arises. If tears come—during a yin hold, a somatic exercise, or the quiet stillness after—try not to resist. Instead, can you lean into it? Can you honor your body’s wisdom and let it express what it needs to release?
    Crying is somatic detox—a cleansing wave that clears space for joy, peace, and vitality. When we embrace our tears, we embrace our full humanity.
    May this week’s practices support you in letting go of what’s heavy, so you can make space for lightness.

    It Body Teaches Us…

    Hi Beautiful Friends,

    This week, I’ve been reflecting on the wisdom of the body. Our body’s digestion is a perfect teacher — it reminds us that letting go is not optional (can you imagine if it didn’t???) – it’s essential. Just consider if we held on to everything we consumed — the system would become stagnant, heavy, and toxic. The same is true in life.

     

    Letting go creates space. It allows us to release what no longer serves us — old emotions, tension, stress, relationships, ideas about life and even outdated versions of ourselves. Without release, there’s no room for growth, no space for change, and no opening for life to flow through us.

    This is where somatics becomes such a powerful practice. Each mindful movement, each gentle unwinding, is an invitation to soften our grip and allow the body and nervous system to exhale. In somatic work, we don’t force — we listen, we allow, and we let go.

    So as you step into your week, I invite you to notice:

    ✨ Where can you release a little more?

    ✨ What might shift if you allowed your body, mind, or heart to let go just a bit?

    Your practice this week is here to support you in that journey of release. Together, we’ll make space — for breath, for healing, and for new life to move through.

Sudden stressors, unexpected challenges, or emotional waves can leave us feeling as if we’re caught in the storm.

    But here’s the gift of our somatic practices, yin yoga, and mindful movement: they train us to meet these changes without collapsing into the extremes. Just as strong terrain withstands the pounding of a storm, our body and nervous system grow steadier and more resilient with consistent practice. Instead of getting swept away, we learn to bend, breathe, and stay rooted.

    Researchers have found that this “stuck” stress can show up as:

    ✨ Low energy or burnout
    ✨ Mood swings or feeling “on edge”

    Hi Beautiful Friends, 🌸

     

    I’m a big believer in planning ahead — setting yourself up for success with meal prep 🍲, morning movement 🧘‍♀️, emotional check-ins 💬, and all those proactive little rituals that help life flow.

     

    But let’s be real… sometimes life doesn’t just throw you a curveball ⚾ — it lobs the whole bucket at your head (usually courtesy of my kids 😅). You get sick 🤒. A blizzard shuts everything down ❄️. An energy-eater strolls in and takes a big ol’ bite out of your day 🥴. That project takes three times longer than you thought ⏳. You finally carve out time for your practice… and your body says, “Nope, not today.”

     

    Here’s what I’ve learned: when your plan crumbles, ride it.

    🌬️ Ride the breath.
    🕰️ Ride the moment.
    🌊 Ride the wave of not-knowing.

     

    Stress isn’t the bad guy. It’s actually a brilliant built-in system meant to help you rise to a challenge 💪. The problem is when stress gets stuck — when we hold our breath, clamp down, and live in that braced state for too long. That’s when it turns from an ally into a weight.

    In those moments, I invite you to pause ✨ and soften into it. Let the breath move you. Invite your body to feel safe enough to release. Trust that you will figure it out — because you are an amazing, illuminated, magical being 🌟.

     

    Planning makes life smoother — no doubt. But sometimes, the best plan is simply to be here, in the ride 🎢.

    Go SLOW?

    Hi Beautiful Friends,

    Today, I listened to my body. My spirit wanted to go-go-go… check things off the list, connect with friends, keep up with the pace of the world.
    But beneath all that, something quieter whispered:
    “Slow down.” And I knew that voice was true.

    There was a part of me that worried—


    Will I disappoint someone? Am I letting people down?
    But maybe that’s just old programming…
    Maybe what I’m really letting down is the illusion that I always have to keep going to be valuable.

    I tell my kids this all the time:
    You’re not missing out just because you’re not available.
    You’re right where you’re meant to be.

    And the same is true for us, too.

     

    I’ve learned—again and again—that my most healing moments don’t arrive in the rush or the doing.
    They find me in the pause. In the stillness.
    In the gentle unraveling of tension when I stop forcing and start feeling.

    Slowing down isn’t lazy.


    It’s intelligent. It’s intuitive. It’s healing.

    Sometimes that looks like choosing Yin Yoga instead of a workout.
    Sometimes it’s walking slower, or saying no to plans, or simply lying on the ground with one hand on your center, one on your heart.
    Absolutely nothing—on purpose.

    Because every time I truly slow down,
    I meet a version of myself that I’ve forgotten…

    If you need permission to do the same—take it.
    Your nervous system will thank you.
    Your body will soften.
    And your soul will exhale.

    “will I manage this?”

    There are still days I catch myself thinking: “How will I manage this?”
    The responsibilities, the uncertainty, the emotions—it can feel like too much.

    And honestly, I don’t always have the answers.

    But over the years, I’ve come to realize that the “I don’t know how” moment isn’t the end.
    It’s actually an invitation.
    Not to push harder or figure it all out—but to surrender.

    When I pause… breathe… move… meditate… connect to the Divine—something changes.
    By stepping out of the overthinking, problem-solving mind, I enter a new space. Something shifts.

    We begin to move out of the fast-paced, analytical beta brainwave state and into slower, more coherent rhythms—alpha and theta brainwaves.
    These are the brain states where healingintuitioncreativity, and transformation reside.

    Have you ever felt that soft spaciousness in a yin yoga pose or during savasana? That’s it.
    We drop beneath the surface.
    We soften our grip.

    And we allow something deeper to guide us.

    This is what practicebreathwork, and faith do for me.
    Not because they solve everything—but because they change the way I meet what’s in front of me.

    So this week, if you hear that whisper or maybe a bit louder —

    “It’s too much…”
    Pause. Place your hand on your heart. Feel your breath.
    And remind yourself: You don’t have to know how right now.
    You just have to soften… and allow.

    Your body knows. Your spirit knows.
    And you will surprise yourself.

    This week in our Weekly Wellness Calendar, we’re exploring a somatic principle that’s subtle… but life-changing:

    👉 Detachment — not as escape, but as freedom from reactivity.

    In my classes, I often invite you to watch without judgment.

    Why? Because the moment we observe with neutral, uncritical awareness, we interrupt the spiral of negative thoughts and stories that bind us to a negative state.

    Judgment contracts.
    Observation opens.

    When you detach somatically — when you feel without fixingwitness without labeling — your body begins to unravel old holding patterns.
    This is how we release tension not just from our muscles… but from our mindset and emotional body too.

    So this week, as you move through the practices — whether you’re tapping, rocking, resting in a pose, or simply breathing —
    ✨ notice what you feel
    ✨ name it without clinging to it
    ✨ and give yourself permission to let it pass through

    Ride the Wave 🌊

    WEEKLY WELLNESS NOTE 🌿

    This week reminded me how plans don’t always go according to plan. Between work, family, and the usual chaos of life, everything shifted what felt like umpteenth times. Just when I thought I had it all sorted, something else would pop up. But instead of resisting it, we leaned in, followed a gut feeling, and ended up at the beach—a bit exhausted, unscripted, but open.  Just when a wave of relief poured over me with feet in the sand…dum dum dum –

    The sky darkened and thunder rolled in, part of me wanted to rush or retreat. But we waited. We listened. We trusted.  We found cover. And what came after was pure magic: fireworks bursting in the sky while waves lapped at our feet—a storm giving way to stillness and awe and big smiles.  Admittedly not a huge fan of fireworks for many reasons, but this was actually amazing.

    This week, let’s stay open to the unexpected. Trust your body’s cues, your intuition, your inner GPS. The most memorable moments often come when we let go of the tight grip of expectation and meet life—somatically, fully—in the moment.

    Let your plans be soft. Let your instincts be strong.

    Where You Put Your Energy

    Hi Beautiful Friends,

    This week, I’ve been reflecting on how powerful our energy is—and how where we place it shapes not just our mood, but our entire experience.

    It’s easy to give our energy away to things like overthinking, people-pleasing, or worrying. But when we consciously choose where to direct it—toward movement, rest, or presence—we begin to shift, not just mentally, but physically and emotionally.

    I had a little reminder of this when I was blowing up pool floats this week. The watermelon and zebra floats were effortless—ready for summer fun. But the toucan… that one had several holes in it! Turns out, the Easter Bunny’s gift wasn’t quite as easy as expected. And despite my efforts, the toucan wouldn’t stay inflated, and I had to laugh at how sometimes, even with good effort, things don’t go as planned.

    This reminded me that it’s okay if things don’t always work out the way we hope. Sometimes we just need to know when to let go and when to keep trying. Somatic practices help us tune in—to notice when something isn’t working  or is working, and to respond with awareness rather than pushing through.

    So this week, ask yourself:
    Where is my energy going—and is it where I want it to be?

    Let’s move and breathe with intention. Let’s choose wisely and compassionately.

    SOMETHING UNEXPECTED

    Hi Beautiful Friends,

    This week, I invite you to expect the unexpected—not in fear, but with wide-eyed wonder.

    What if you smelled a scent that cracked open a memory you hadn’t touched in years—or one you never even knew existed? Something beyond imagination. This past week, one of my daughters graduated from elementary school, and I told her, “I could never have imagined you or created you in my sketchbook.”
    She is beyond anything I could have planned.

    And what if your body moved in a way that surprised you—gently, instinctively—like it remembered something your mind had long forgotten?

    In our practices, we often seek routine for stability—but this week, I encourage you to lean into curiosity. Let your senses surprise you. Let your body teach you. Feel what it’s like to experience life from the inside out, to shift old patterns and soften programmed responses to challenge.
    When discomfort arises, what happens if we pause… and respond differently?

    Transformation doesn’t always come with fireworks. Sometimes, it’s sparked by something as subtle as a breath, a scent, or a shift in posture.

    Let this be a week of new sensations, fresh awareness, and softened edges. Expect something different—and see what opens.

    This week, we honor something subtle yet deeply powerful:
    The Space In Between.

    The quiet between breaths.
    The soft pause before a smile.
    The weightless stillness between yoga poses—where the body recalibrates, and the spirit gently stirs.

    In our practice, we often focus on movement or stillness. But what about the transition? That whisper of awareness between effort and ease? That gentle energetic pause—like the hush in the wind just before it shifts?

    These in-between moments are the sacred threads that hold it all together.  They hold possibility and a connection to the infinite.  They’re where the nervous system resets,  where cortisol levels soften,
    and where we begin to hear ourselves more clearly.

    What Your Nervous System Has Been Waiting For

    Hi Beautiful Friends,

    Have you ever finished a somatic practice and felt something shift—not just in your muscles, but in your mood, your energy, your whole being?

    This is the magic of somatics. And it’s not just a feeling—there’s science behind it.

    Somatic movement and awareness-based practices help us heal from chronic stress, pain, and emotional overwhelm by working with the nervous system, not against it.

    🌿 Why Somatics Heal (According to Science)

    1. They restore your nervous system.
      When we move slowly with intention and awareness, we stimulate the vagus nerve, which tells the body: You’re safe now.
    • 🧠 Study: A 2018 review in Frontiers in Psychiatry highlights how vagus nerve stimulation improves mood and reduces symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
    • 🌀 Somatic movement offers a non-invasive way to tone this nerve and bring you into the parasympathetic “rest and digest” state.
    • They reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels.
      High cortisol from chronic stress can lead to fatigue, inflammation, anxiety, and hormonal imbalance.
    • ✨ In a 2020 study, gentle movement paired with mindful breathwork significantly reduced cortisol levels and improved heart rate variability (HRV)—a marker of nervous system resilience.
    • 💛 Somatic practices give your body permission to slow down, recalibrate, and return to balance.
    • They help release stored tension and trauma.
      According to trauma expert Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (The Body Keeps the Score), trauma isn’t just in your mind—it lives in your body

      • 💫 Somatic work helps unwind chronic tension patterns, reconnect you to sensation, and rebuild a sense of inner safety.
      • Movement becomes a way to rewrite your story—from survival to freedom.

    💬 In My Own Life…
    As a mom, a yoga pilates teacher, and a human being, somatic practices have given me tools to regulate my emotions, reconnect with myself, and support my body, my life and my home to become better.  These movements invite us to listen inside—to treat the body not as a problem to fix, but as a wise guide to follow.

    Rain, Herons, and Coming Back to Yourself 🌦️

    Hi Beautiful Friends,

    This week, the unexpected came swooping into my backyard—literally.

    There I was, sipping my tea and getting ready to drive my kids someplace, when I saw a prehistoric-looking heron perched at the edge of our little pond, eyeing our lovely goldfish. My heart pounded as I flew out the door, yelling and waving my arms like a madwoman. It was one of those wild moments where you act first, then laugh later—drenched from the rain and building a makeshift contraption to shield our fishy friends from any more drama.

    It got me thinking about how often life throws the unexpected our way. A surprise visitor. A missed workout. A snack that turns into a not-so-mindful big snack. It happens.

    But the beauty isn’t in never slipping—it’s in the way we come back. Back to our practice. Back to presence. Back to compassion. That’s the rhythm of life. That’s who we are.

    So if something knocked you off course this week, whether it was a heron or just a hard day—know this: You can always return. There’s no shame in the reset. Only strength in the showing up.

    🌿 Rinse the stagnation

    Hi Beautiful Friends,

    We rinse our dishes.

    We clean our homes.
    We reset our spaces when they feel heavy or cluttered.
    But how often do we offer that same cleansing attention to our fascia, our nervous system, or the spaces inside our bodies?
    Just like stagnant air in a closed room, the tissues of the body can hold on to old stress, tension, and stories.
    Just like washing a window reveals more light, a gentle rinse of somatic movement, yin yoga, and vagus nerve breathwork, pilates articulations can help detox cortisol and soften the stress grip from the inside out.
    This week, I invite you to think of your practice not as something to “achieve”—
    but as a sacred rinse.
    A way to loosen the sediment of stress.
    A way to let your body know: It’s okay to let go now.

Perhaps it’s simply longing for a quiet, centered breath amidst a busy day. The ones that slip under the radar: Holding your breath when checking your inbox Tensing your shoulders in a difficult conversation Clenching your jaw while stuck in traffic These small moments, repeated daily, create micro-traumas in the body—silent imprints of stress that build up over time.

    The good news? With somatic awareness, we can start to unwind them.

    This is your gentle reminder that however you feel is valid. It is not wrong, broken, or something to fix. It is you, feeling. And that’s beautiful.

    This week’s calendar is full of practices designed to support this exact space — to meet you right where you are and offer movement, breath, and awareness as loving companions on your journey forward.
